Installing & updating

SmartScreen, Linux packages, the Finder Quick Action and failed updates.

Windows says "Windows protected your PC"

SmartScreen shows this for apps it hasn't seen often. Choose More info → Run anyway to continue the install.

The AppImage won't start on Linux

The AppImage needs FUSE 2:

sudo apt install libfuse2 # Ubuntu 24.04: sudo apt install libfuse2t64
chmod +x TinyOffice-*.AppImage

My .deb or .rpm install doesn't update

That's expected — only macOS, Windows and the AppImage update automatically. Download the new package and install it over the old one:

sudo apt install ./TinyOffice-*.deb # Debian / Ubuntu
sudo dnf install ./TinyOffice-*.rpm # Fedora / RHEL

"Automatic update failed"

If an update fails twice, TinyOffice offers Open Download Page. Download the latest installer and run it over your current install — your documents aren't touched.

"Open with TinyOffice Drive" is missing on macOS

  1. In TinyOffice, choose File → Install Finder Quick Action…
  2. If it still doesn't appear, enable it in System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts → Services.

To remove it, delete it from ~/Library/Services.

On Windows 11, the item is under Show more options in the right-click menu.
