What TinyOffice sends when you sign in — and what it doesn't

A plain-language list of what stays on your computer, what goes to an AI model when you ask it to, and the usage records we keep so plans and credits stay accurate.

"Private" is easy to put on a landing page and hard to check. So here is exactly what TinyOffice does with your data, in plain language.

Without an account

You can use every editor without signing in. In that case:

  • Your documents are opened, edited and saved on your computer.
  • PDF conversion and OCR run locally — the file is never uploaded.
  • TinyOffice doesn't send anonymous usage analytics.
  • The app contacts our download server to check for updates, and never installs one without asking you.

When you use AI

When you ask the assistant to do something, the content it needs goes to the model you're using. That's unavoidable: a model can't summarise a document it can't read. The assistant only works on what you give it — the open file, the folder you opened, or the notes and highlights it needs for your question — and it asks before changing anything.

When you're signed in

To keep your plan and credits accurate, TinyOffice records AI usage while you're signed in. For each AI turn or tool call, it sends:

  • the provider, the model and the number of tokens
  • which tool ran, whether it succeeded and how long it took
  • your time zone, the app version and a random install ID
  • a one-way hash of the conversation ID

It does not send the conversation itself as part of these records. Usage sync is always on while you're signed in, and nothing is sent when you're signed out.

TinyCloud

TinyCloud only syncs the files you put in the TinyCloud folder. Everything else on your computer stays where it is.

BookStore

If you use the BookStore, you choose what's shared with switches for personalised recommendations, syncing reading progress, contributing anonymously to trending books, and deleting your reading history.
