Introducing TinyOffice: every Office file, one private desktop app
TinyOffice is a free desktop suite for macOS, Windows and Linux that edits Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF and Markdown files on your own computer — with an AI assistant that asks before it changes anything.

Most of us still live in files. Contracts arrive as .docx, budgets as .xlsx, the board deck as .pptx, and everything that has to be signed comes as a PDF. Yet the tools around those files have drifted toward the browser: upload first, edit in a tab, download again, hope nothing broke on the way.
TinyOffice goes the other way. It is a free desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux that opens the files you already have, edits them where they live, and saves them back in their own format.
Five editors in one window
| Editor | Files |
|---|---|
| Docs | .docx |
| Sheets | .xlsx, .xlsm, .xls, .csv |
| Slides | .pptx |
| Markdown | .md |
These are real editors, not viewers. Docs has track changes, comments, a table of contents and footnotes. Sheets has PivotTables, charts and formula tracing. Slides has masters, Morph transitions and Presenter View. PDF lets you change the actual text on the page, sign, fill forms and reorganise pages. Markdown gives you a friendly block editor that still saves a plain .md file.
Files that keep working in Office
The easiest way to lose trust in an editor is to send a document back to a colleague and hear "the formatting is all broken". TinyOffice saves .docx, .xlsx and .pptx files natively and rewrites only the parts you changed — everything else is written back exactly as it was. We wrote more about that in Why TinyOffice only rewrites what you changed.
An assistant that works inside your files
Every editor has an AI panel. Ask it to tighten an introduction, fill a column, draft slides from an outline or summarise a long PDF. The important part: every change arrives as a proposal you review, with a before-and-after view, and you choose whether to apply it.
The same assistant lives on the Home screen, where it can answer from your notes, book highlights and task boards — and in Quick Chat, a small window you can open from anywhere on your computer.
A calm workspace around your documents
From the built-in Extension Store you can add Notes, Tasks, Books, Transcribe, Media and the Document Translator. A Chrome extension clips web pages straight into Notes. One search box (⌘K) finds files, notes, highlights and tasks at once.
Local first, account optional
You can download TinyOffice and start editing without creating an account. Your documents are opened and saved on your computer, and editing works offline. Sign in only when you want the extras: TinyOffice AI credits, Transcribe, and TinyCloud, an optional folder that syncs between your devices.
